Advanced Patroller School

Hello to all,

Just to put a bug in your ear, there will be an Advanced Patroller School offered at Holiday Valley (WNY Region), Ellicotville, NY, from September 29th to October 1st. And I would like you to forward this to all your patrols in your respective Regions. This school is open to ALL patrollers. This means if this is your first year patrolling, or your 40th, this clinic is for you. During the course of the weekend you will be exposed to many different skills, typically including complex first aid problems, Chair Evac, Low Angle Rope rescue, ascension techniques, high angle rope work, avalanche beacon searches, discussions involving risk management, and Mass Casualty Incidents. This is a hands on clinic. Be prepared to get dirty, and occasionally bloody as all the first aid problems are fully moulaged, and as realistic as we can make them.

This event includes all meals. Camping will be available at the area, near Holiday Valley's Patrol Room. Other accommodations are also available. You will meet patrollers from around the Division, and have a lot of fun, and possibly learn something along the way. If you have questions, please contact Joe Probst, (his contact information is attached). There is no pressure and no tests. We want this event to be informative and fun.

Just be forewarned, that every year we have run this clinic, it has filled up and closed out. The course registration is now open and you will want to register sooner than later. Everyone brings something to this clinic, and we are there to share ideas. That's what makes us better patrollers as we bring these new ideas, thoughts, and techniques back to our patrols and our Regions. The information sheet with registration information is attached. If you have any questions please let me know.
